Terms of use
Effective 5 November 2026 · Version 1.0
1. Agreement
These terms apply to the Anekant app for iOS and Android (the "App") and the website anekant.app (the "Website"), provided by Anekant ("we", "us"). By using them you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the App or the Website.
2. What the App provides
The App calculates the Jain tithi, Pachchakkhan times, observance dates, Choghadiya and related information from astronomical calculations and the published conventions of the tradition you choose. The App is free to use.
3. Calculations and religious guidance
We check our calculations against published Jain calendars, but traditions, sanghs and gachchhas sometimes differ, and announcements can change a date. The App is a guide for your practice. For vows, fasts and the date of any observance, follow your guru, your sangh and their announcements. Times are calculated for the place you choose; they can differ by a minute or two from printed calendars, which round differently.
4. Reminders
Reminders depend on your phone's notification settings, battery saving and operating system, which may delay or stop them. Do not rely on them alone for time-sensitive vows.
5. Acceptable use
Use the App and the Website lawfully and for personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not copy, resell or redistribute their content or calculations, try to disrupt them, or reverse engineer the App except where the law allows it.
6. Content and credits
The App, its design and its text belong to us, except the material listed here, which belongs to its owners:
- Astronomical calculations use the Swiss Ephemeris by Astrodienst AG.
- City list: simplemaps.com World Cities Basic, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
- The Navkar Mantra and the names of the Tirthankaras, kalyanaks and observances belong to the Jain tradition.
7. No warranty
The App and the Website are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that they will be free of errors or always available.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the App or the Website, including a missed or mistimed observance. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
9. Changes
We may change the App, the Website or these terms. We will post changed terms on this page with a new effective date; using the App after that means you accept them.
